"I have a 1993 Bayliner 2855 with a 7.4 Mercruiser with the stock Carter afb carb., my problem is that the engine starts fine when cold but when we go out on the water, shut down for a couple of hours it usually doesnt want to restart. It seems to flood itself while sitting there. Sometimes if I put it to full throttle it will start. Anyway I was thinking of putting an Edelbrock 600cfm Marine carb on, any ideas..."

If opening the throttle starts it, you have a choke problem, its not setting up or closing when in that temp condition. Get some to adjust it."

Yeah thats part of the problem

Yeah thats part of the problem it has the old fashion intake type choke. The new carbs all have either electric chokes or manual. I'm thinking of going with the electric choke.
