74 johnson 50 not getting water

i have a 1974 johnson 50 hp outboard and i put a new water pump in and all the pipes and hoses are clear but i am not getting any water out of the motor where the water is supposed to come out. any ideas ?
 
most of that is right i do have a question where would the thermostat be located at? The water should be coming out of the back on the right i know that for sure i did not know that about the inpeller thank goodness that i put that in excatly that way.the water tubes are all correct
