Need some help please...bought

Need some help please...bought a boat the other day and the motor seemed to run fine on the muffs...only ran it for a minute...took to the lake and backed in and started...ran fine for a minute or two and died...tried to restart and starter gear goes up to fly wheel then drops right back down...every 10 start attempts or so it will engage but struggles and only turns flywheel and inch or so...I replaced the battery and it did the same thing...disconnected battery and used jumper cables to go bypass cables..no luck...what has me spooked is that i put a socket on the top of the flywheel and it requires a huge effort to get it to move...I did not notice if I was pumping water while it was running in the water and fear it overheated (thought it did not seem too hot) where does this model pump out...I do not see a pee hole...How tough is the flywheel to turn???

"Ok, starter may be sick but the flywheel should be fairly easy to turn in between the compression "bumps".

Try CRC or WD40 on the starter mechanism...however...

Take the plugs out and see if it turns easier both by hand and on the starter.

There is no pee hole on these, there are two exhaust by-pass "nostrils" in a block below the cowling and facing backwards. On the muffs very little comes out of these but a lot should come out of the exhaust(just above the prop). More will come out when in the water and this is really the only tell-tale you have but one can easily be installed on your exhaust cover (If you like drilling out snapped off bolts that is!!)

Try it without plugs and get back to us."
