"I have a 1994 7.4 Bravo One that overheated yesterday. Ran across the lake fine 160-170, then when i went to idle, immediatly the temp started climbing. Got in water and made sure the the water intakes were clear. (boat is docked all summer) Sat for awhile to let cool off and try again, cooled to below 160 started and it started heating up right away. Had to be towed to dock. I have not done anything yet. I reviewed the manual I have and figure: 1 termostat, 2 seawater pump, 3 circulating pump, or clogged hoses or lines.
Im going up tomorrow and check out. Im going to check the seawater pump first, by taking the hose off to the termostat and seeing if i have flow after cranking. I should have flow right?? If thats ok ill take the termastat out and check on stove. am I going about this right??? any input of thoughts would be greatly appreciated.... James"
