"hi,ive been experiencing running probs with my engine,its a fourcylinder,thunderbolt ignition 50hp.it starts and runs in neutral fine,reving perfectly,ticks over imidiately,but put in under load in the water and it just plods,if i raise the throttle i just get a load of induction noise and nothing else,it just plods.ive replaced the plugs,new fuel pump,cleaned carbs three times and still this happens,its getting very annoying.can anyone shed some light???????my engine has a distributor and is the thunderbolt ignition,could the trigger box be faulty or the distributor....thanx for any advice,regards,jeff"

Hook up a timing light and che

Hook up a timing light and check that you have a spark at each cylinder. Then check compression. When carburetors were off did you look at reed valves??

Sounds like the same problem I'm having with my 80hp. The problem with mine is the stator.
