72 sodium level - bad?

Hi, hoping for some perspective here. I'm putting an offer on a 25 foot inboard fishing boat with a 350 inboard raw water cooled engine. 10 years old, 600 hours.

Oil analysis on engine and gears good, except for 72 level sodium.

the mechanic's survey noted minor corrosion on the manifold/riser gasket but all else checked out ok beyond needing a tune up and oil change.

Am trying to put that 72 level in perspective. Is it an oil additive, or do i believe i'm on the way to a bad gasket or worse a cracked head?

Would appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Just curious...has it been used in saltwater? Ten years is a long period for RWC if it was used in saltwater. What were the engine compression readings? Whenever I sell a boat, car, truck or power equipment it gets the basic oil/lube service and tuneup. I want the perspective buyer to know what they are buying has been cared for regularly. You might consider passing on it or lowballing the bid. JMO

Afroman, Welcome to ME.com. I understand that this is your first time posting and I understand your concern and that you are seeking on line help.
You've now asked your question five times in five different ME.com forum sections. While there is no rule against doing this, I think that posting in one forum section would have done the trick!
Of the sub-category "Gas Inboard Engines, Inboard/Outboards, and Sterndrive Forum", the Merc, Volvo Penta, OMC, Crusader and Chrysler forums seem to be the most active. Perhaps choose one that most fits your engine/drive.

No harm/no foul.... just a suggestion!

Thanks Rick... I realize it wasa bit of a faux pas but was trying to increase my odds for some broad input and expert advice under a very tight time frame (am up against a survey/purchase deadline).

Appreciate the indulgences.

Thanks, Abe.
