i replaced the water pump an still not pumping the water . am not really sure if the water pump fins was aimed rite but am guessing soon as i tryed to start the motor they would go the way they need to be aimed
any ideas for me ?

The impeller is placed on the shaft and then the housing is pushed down while turning the shaft in the normal direction of engine rotation.----------Is the motor actually running hot ?--------There is no telltale on that motor.--------------Did you use the 2 plastic sleeves to help guide the water tubes into the pump ?-------Did you replace the housing ?

So you only replaced the " impeller " and not the entire pump as was stated in the first post. Did you use the 2 plastic sleeves to help guide the tubes into the pump ?-------Have you tested the overheat light / horn in the control box ?----Is there a mist of water and exhaust spraying out the 2 holes just below the cowling ?

yes i replaced the impeller an two water tubes but not the housing . am not sure it does have a overheating light an no horn on the control box an no mist from the 2 holes ..but am only letting it run from 1 min to 2 min .

The standard control for that motor had a horn to warn of an overheat condition.-----------You best learn how to test it.------------Is the exhaust manifold getting hot enuff to sizzle water drops after 2 minutes ??-----------I am not standing beside your motor and exact answers to questions are needed in order to be able to help from afar !-----71 was the first year for warning horns in the controls, yours may be an earlier box with just a hot light.

you was rite the control does have a small horn on it . i have never heared it go off . with just a min or 2 of running would that be long enough for it to pump water from a hose ...
the only thing i have noticed is that from the 2 holes the only thing coming out is what looks like smoke ..am not sure where the exhaust manifold is

------------" I have never heard it go off "--------------------Therefor you must test it, to see if it is hooked up and working !!-----------Can you hold your fingers on the cylinderhead for about 5 seconds after the motor has run for 2 minutes ??----------------Answer the questions and I will try to help you.
