"I am on my 3rd amplifier replacement. On Nov.25,2006 Doug Byrant e-mailed John Leeds info on converting to MSD ignition system. If anyone has the info, please advise. I have already installed a diode between the amplifier powerpack and the starter solenoid to avoid voltage drop to the amp."

"To Doug Byrant: Ordered the coils and MSD amp from Summit Racing. Got it in 2 days. Removed the Evinrude junk, fabricated a MSD mount bracket and 2 coil mount brackets. They all fit under the engine cover. Wired the ignition per your instructions and the engine started and ran great, Can't wait to get it on the water again. Thank you."

I have a '70 Johnson 60ESL that I just bought. I was told it needed an amp. I am curious about this MSD conversion as well. I have extensive automotive experience and can vouch for MSD ignition components.
