70hp mercury overheat alarm

I have an 88 mercury 70hp my p

I have an 88 mercury 70hp my problem is when I turn the key to on position no alarm sounds I can run the boat up to speed no alarm but if I shut the motor off and restart even an hour later the alarm goes off steady tone no mater how many times I start it it will go off there is a constant stream off water out of the pee hole and I dont think the motor would stay hot up to an hour also I think it has a water pressure gauge in the console but it is corroded pretty bad would the gauge not working cause the overheat alarm to go off I just bought the boat a few months ago and the guy said he had it fixed once and two weeks later it started again.

well I don't know if this is helpful but I also have a 91 merc 90hp that is doing the same thing. It is also the alarm for the oil injection unit and I was told that this is probably what is doing it. I was told that it was still probably working just a bad sensor????? I did have it repaired once but this time I think I will just bypass and mix my oil myself.

yea I thought it was the oil sensor at first but it is a steady alarm so I hope it is just a sensor or because the hose to the water pressure gauge is pluged but thanks for the info
