"ok Ive drained the lower unit

"ok Ive drained the lower unit oil.looked ok good but not sure whats the best type of gear oil to replace with,is lucas oil ok to use or is there something better I can pick up at the parts store that is better.Also there is a gasket on the air box on the front of the carbs that is cracked nd falling apart do I need to get a nw gasket or can I use gasket maker.Thanks for all the help.

"Alwasy use Marine lower unit oil and nothing else. It's avaiable at WalMart, etc.

Read the label to be sure it is for Marine Lower Units!!

I always use Walmart Marine lo

I always use Walmart Marine lower unit oil. Stop by your marine supply store and buy a pump that makes it easy. It should cost about $8.00. I do my engines in the fall before the cold weather comes and at the same time the engine gets fogged.
Hint: Sometimes at the end of the boating season your local Walmart has end of season stock of lower unit oil as well as TWC 3 for that old engine. Buy it when it is on sale and save it for the next spring season. I always have a couple of gallons of both on hand. Good luck
