"Any suggestions on this will be helpfull to this admittedly non-gearhead boat owner. Motor starts and runs fine, and in my driveway works great as well. Problem is in water, when I put it in gear, it stalls. It will start right up again, and stall upon gear change. I can get the boat moving with my kicker, and put main motor in gear, and off I go with no problems. It just stalls when I put it under a standing load. I have changed the plugs and fuel/water separator, and the coupler from gas line to motor. It has 1/2 tank old gas, but I filled it with 92 octane and dumped in some octane boost, but to no avail. Thanks in advance for your feedback."

"Assuming that you have proper compression and spark.... compression 100+ and even on all cylinders.... spark with the plugs removed jumps a 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame, a real SNAP!

Plugs should be Champion QL77JC4 plugs, gapped at .040.

On a flushette, the idle rpm should be as follows.

20" shaft engine: 1000 rpm

25" shaft engine: 1200 rpm.

In the water, the idle rpm will drop to normal.

Let us know about the compression and spark, and what you find."

I have an 85HP Johnson seahorse 76 model. mechanically in good condition. When out on the water at between 3000 - 4000 rpm the alarm buzzer comes on. Sometimes is doesn't come on, then sometimes it stays on. I have replaced the waterjackets, changed the impellor and new waterpump casing. I wonder if the pressure switch could be faulty?
