"I have an old 84 Starcraft that is being pushed around the lake by a 70 Evinrude. My 1st question: She want's to bog out on me when I push my throttle handle forward, so I have to push my key choke one time and then hammer down the throttle handle. Is this a fixable problem or something I will have to live with. It pulls tubers just fine but beginner skiers stuggle with the dead time and can't get up.
Question #2. I just tore the entire boat down, not the motor and did a new paint job and floor and seats. As I was taking out screws under the drivers compartment, I noticed a knob on the opposite side of the key hole (throttle handle holder) it would be by your right knee if you were driving but you wouldn't know it was there if you didn't get under there. It says Throttle resistents and is set at about 10:00, it can be turned up. What is this knob for? Does it have any bearing on my bogging?

Thanks in advance,

Larry Shay"

"The bogging is usually due to fouled carburetors. Pushing the key in to choke the engine would indicate fouled carburetors also.

I'd suggest that you remove, clean, and rebuild them using new carburetor kits."

"(It says Throttle resistents ).......this is the throttle friction screw,..it puts tension on throttle to keep it where u put it...has nothing to do w/bogging prob."
