Hi all. i want to try this thi

Hi all. i want to try this this motor with the vro pump [oil side] disconected. is it just a case of removing oil feed pipe from the engine connection blanking off the end and pre mixing the fuel.is this a 50-1 mix thanks Ged

"Ged, you also have to disconnect the alarm wire from the VRO pump and plug the oil line going into the engine. Do a search. Joe Reeves has a detailed procedure that is posted at least once a week on this board. Keep in mind that once you disconnect the oil side YOU CAN'T GO BACK!!! The oil side of the pump will be damaged by running dry. The oil delivery will be inconsistant if you try to hook it back up sometime down the road.

"thanks for that Dan. is there any way i can disconnect it and not trash it, need to confirm i,m not getting to much oil in there, seems to smoke alot, and wondered if this is the prob with running off beat. Ged"

"There is a conversion kit available to replace the VRO pump with a fuel only pump.

To check for oil consumption, there is a test detailed in the factory service manual involving a length of clear hose marked off with a sharpie. A less accurate measurment would be to mark off the oil tank. You should burn about a pint of oil for each 6 gallons of gas.
