7.5hp Disconnect Electrics

I have a 1984 Merc 7.5hp 2 cyl 2 stroke. It's electric start, but I'd like to use it occasionally without a battery. What do I need to disconnect in order to not fry any electrics while it's running when not connected to a Battery?

Thanks,

Donald.

Remove one of the two yellow wires coming from the stator (doesn't matter which) and tape it off. You'll be fine then.

On most of the Johnson motors like that there was a special rubber boot that was used to cover the end of the red battery cable.-----No need to disconnect anything.

But I thought if it was run while not connecetd to a battery, it would fry parts of the electrics??

And it's a Mercury
