i want to replace the swivel arm assembly but cant find out how to remove the old one,its cracked in half,i have to remove the steering assembly but how???????????manual dont show it.

the swivel arm assembly is the bracket that clamps the motor to the boat its on the shaft that the water tube goes through(steering assembly)but to remove it i have to get it off the shaft.the shaft goes to the power head and i dont know how the shaft is connected to the powerhead.the steering assembly is on with friction blocks.the swivel arm assembly slides up and down the shaft,,all external parts.( exhaust housing)

If you are talking about the swivel Bracket, you must remove the motor from the bracket, look at the parts breakdown for the motor and you can see whats needs to be removed. goto view parts diagram for you motor at the top of this page.

thanks they helped.i guess i wanted the steering assy off ,and it was just on with rubber blocks,a constant pull got it right off, again thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

While we're on the subject of 7.5 Johnsons. I have an '81 7.d and I think I may have dome some damage to one of the cylinders last weedend when I hit a sandbar. My question is this: What is the psi of the compression supposed to be? My service manual doesn't state it.
