i have a 68 evinrude 6hp the m

i have a 68 evinrude 6hp the motor runs fine while in neutral but as soon as u put a load on it or put it in water it bogs down and doesnt rev up what could cause this? thanks.

"First make sure you have two good sparks. Use a spark tester if possible and check/clean/reset/replace the plugs, Any problems in the spark department investigate. It is a points ignition so condition of coils and points are something to look at, but you need the correct type of puller to take the flywheel off to do that.

Good chance that the carb needs a very thorough clean especially if choking it helps. I take it that pumping the fuel bulb gently has no effect."
 
ive checked all the ignition s

ive checked all the ignition stuff and have cleaned the carb thoroughly and it still does it ill check the spark while in water and see if its not enough

"sooo the lower unit is not binding, the spark is strong, and the carb is clean, when i put it in reverse it reved up like normal but as soon as i put it in forward it didnt rev up"
