"My mate has a 6hp Johnson (6rlere 1994) and it runs like a dream except it doesn't like starting when it's warmed up, I suggested it was incorrect spark plug gaps (or indeed the plugs themselves) but what does everyone else think please?

Well the plugs should be QL77J

Well the plugs should be QL77JC4 gapped at 0.030"

Possibly just starting technique.

Open the throttle to the normal start position. pump the bulb. Try with no choke first. Then try with some choke. It will need some choke if more than a few minutes have elapsed but it may need the knob to be pushed in again as soon as it fires.
