oh b ye the way...instead of putting a relief cut on my intermediate shafdt... i had the machine shop cut 1/2 " off of my engine coupler instead....any input on that???? thanx again....he he ..dimitri

just saw dist on ebay, complete with cap boat parts.

The cut on the coupler i never saw done i would have thought to cut the shaft you need every little bit of connection between the splines.

I guess you will find out if it's ok if it doesn't strip out the coupler.

I wil look back to see what question you asked don;t remember seeing a question and not replying.

thanx chief...the reason i ask about mallory distributor is because thats whats in my boat...not sure if it belongs there or not...thanx...dimitri

its raining .. boat is covered today , but gonna crawl under and work on some things... get the numbers and order later....got off my butt and looked yesterday and found mallory distributor parts on this site yesterday....sorry for asking stupid questions...will try and look before asking next time...thanx in advance...dimitri

keep it coming rain here also, only went out with the wifey to the grocery store.

I was gonna pull the boat around to the driveway son is busting my you know what he wants to get a striper.

Got the rods all ready to go. Got the oil and filter, just waiting for the right day, it's like 3 hours of work. Just to get the boat in the driveway.

Then once in the driveway, it's another 2 hours before i start it.

Kid all he's got to do is jump in the boat and away we go to the dock.

Oh yea the dock is still closed off. So my free launch is closed otherwise it's another one up the river and they start to charge memorial day.

G'day mate,

The GPS/Sonar is connected directly to the Battery, with an inline fuse I believe to get the best possible voltage as against trying to find a separate source under the dash. Plus, when turning off and on the engine during a voyage interrupts the operation of the GPS part, and losing the information that is part of the total voyage.

As far as which battery, get the biggest one you can fit, as when out at sea, one wants, and needs, the best battery that is available, as it is a bit had to push-start an engine at sea if the battery loses its' power.

Are your two batteries in series, or separately wired in case one dies? My preference is for both batteries to be the same capacity.

I use a 850CCA Marine Optima, and was glad I had it on board when I had engine trouble once. Had to crank a lot, and then there are the things like Navigation Lights and other power consuming items on board.

Bruce.
