67 85 HP how to winterize

Hello All,

This is my firs year with this old engine and I am looking for some help with weatherization. Years a go I worked at a marina where w had a 55 gallon drum of antifreeze that we dropped the engines in, but there has to be a less expensive way than that. Also do you all run the carb dry or drain? Any help appreciated.

Run the motor at a fast idle.-----Spray storage oil into the carburetor while running.---------After every mosquito has left the area then stop the motor.-----Remove the 2 plugs at the front of the carburetor and drain the fuel.------------Check and make sure there is no water in the gear oil.-----Store motor in the normal running position.

Also put some fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank before running and run it long enough to get it through the whole system.

There is nothing in the power head I need to drain or put antifreeze in? It fully drains on its own? Doesn't it at least need opened up and drained at the thermostat? Again this is a 1967 85 hp not a 2007.

Everything you need to do is explained in post #2 , perhaps read it again.------Nothing special or magic needs to be done !!!!!
