Hey wanted to know few things

Hey wanted to know few things about this motor. My Father in law has a 9 horse Evinrude and when you have it full out you get a heavy spray from the impeller outlet. My 65 only trickles out. The guy i bought it from just had the impeller replaced and the leg pressure checked. Is there possible additional outlets on my 65 that i can't see or is this a difference between manufactorers? Or is this a problem? The guy said it had always been this way for him. And is there any thing difficult involved i adjusting the shift linkage. Reverse doesn't engage until you bring the RPM up.

"Your exhaust gases and water go out through the propeller, better known as "through hub exhaust". Regarding your reverse problems, you can try an adjustment inside the engine where the cables are attached to the shifting unit, however, as you go closer to a good reverse, you get away from a good forward. Think about it. If you do adjustments, minimal adjustment at a time. You may also have a bad clutch dog or reverse gear."
