60hp mercury outboard wont start

hi i got a 1989 60hp outboard

hi i got a 1989 60hp outboard on a pontoon boat this summer it didnt start so i put a stator a rectifer and a switch box i think thats what it is called has like 5 post that go up and down on the motor it ran fine for a weekend and parked it went to go fishing last week and it turns over great getting fuel and no spark could i have a short this would be the second time this happened doing the same thing dont want to buy parts and have it do it agian does anyone have any idea's thank you

ok i found one tip switch is t

ok i found one tip switch is there only one looks like someone had cut the wire to the bottom of tip switch and at the top there are 2 wire black/yellow i just disconnected the wires from the tip switch and hooked them together now can i take the black/yellow wire from the switch box off and see if it will start??? that would tell me there is a short in there??
 
can you put bigger carbs on a

can you put bigger carbs on a 60 hp merc and get 90 horses out of it ?

"Kyle, the 60 (51.8 cu in powerhead) was in the family of 40/45/50/60 - you can convert it backwards, but 60 horses is the max that powerhead will produce.

The 90 belonged with the 70/75/80/90 - 71.12 cu in powerhead.

So short answer - no - the 60 is already at the max..."
