My son has a 60elpto sn 0g099787 that he has recently acquired. We have performed the usual maintenance and it is running on premix and the oil tank at present.

Is it desirable or possible to delete the oil injection on this model and premix only.

I welcome your thoughts

Thanks

Is there oil in the injection tank? Running with premix and injection may work until you determine if the injection is working properly.

I would put a piece of tape on the injection tank at the current oil level, start with a fresh tank of premix (mark the level of the fuel tank). Go out and use motor.

After you have consumed the better part of the fuel in the tank, refill both tanks (fuel & injection). Note the oil used and the fuel used. From the volumes you should be able to calculate the injection rate.

If you are somewhere between 50 and 100:1 the injection is probably working properly.

Someone on here may have a more definitive test, but this is a good place to start.

It will tell you if the injection is working at all.

Removing the injection would not be my choice.

I currently have a 2005 60hp ELPTO. The oil injection system failed on mine. I had it rebuilt and had the rebuilder remove the system and it's components. I now run 50:1 premix and use Penzoil XLF. Runs as good as it ever did and only smokes a little on start ups when the engine is still cold.

If you buy the kit (replaces the gear with plastic spacer to retain crankcase volume) you'll get all
the parts needed plus instructions!
