Greetings guys,

I have a 2004 Mariner 4 stroke 60efi Bigfoot and I am being told by my garage that the engine will have to be stripped down completely for a gasket / washer needs to be replaced at the top of the water inlet. For this gasket / washer to be changed the whole engine needs to come out. i am quoted $600 for labour and $20 for the part. Luckily I have a good friend who is offering to do it for me in his spare time over the winter, however, he needs diagrams to work with. Would anyone know where I could get such diagrams? And is this problem common in this type of engine.

Regards

They changed impeller and had the engine for over a week the tell tale is not throwing out very much water

...tell tale is not throwing out very much water...

Was the tell tale not throwing out water and was it overheating before the impeller replacement? A simple spider nest in the tell tale hose can restrict water flow from it. I would want to remove the hose from the coverplate to see if there is good pressure out of the hose fitting. Also run a wire through the hose before I tear the engine apart for a gasket. Run the engine in a tank or lake to test the water flow.

Hey many thanks for your interest but I am 100% that they are right. They are a main agent. I am just wondering where i can pick up a diagram for the engine.

After reading alot of dealer repair horror stories on this website I hope you/they are correct. I bought a factory manual fo $85 US. It has less garbage and more trouble shooting info than SELOC. JMFO
