60 hp wont start

I have a 1970 johnson 60 hp wo

I have a 1970 johnson 60 hp wont start had it running great in the driveway 3 days ago put it in the lake today cranked over twice then all i heard was a click noise coming from the starter selanoid...i just replaced the selonoid. the boat sunk last year in a bad rain storm finally got it back running and now this...any help apreciated

What was done to the motor whe

What was done to the motor when it was " recovered " from the water.Was the starter cleaned / serviced??

i never did service the starte

i never did service the starter i couldnt get the brushes out so i let it dry over the winter. ill check for voltage at the starter when the key is in the start positon. if ive got voltage then its got to be the staarter right?

if that starter went under water.....it is basically trashed.....

"even if it cranked a few times,...it WILL leave u stranded...take it to a starter rebuilder,or better yet, get a new one...u dont want to try to ski-rope start that hoss!!"
