When trolling at slower speeds

When trolling at slower speeds the alarm goes off. It's a solid tone. The engine is pissing just fine. If I get the boat on plane at medium speed after about 10 seconds the alarm goes off. Is this a sensor problem or something more serious?
 
had same experiance with my 96

had same experiance with my 96/60 mariner (same as merc just differant livery) anyway it also had a telltail stream but it still turned out to be a cooling problem at lower rpm ie. trolling. I changed out the water pump impeller. That cured the problem and I installed a temp gauge so i do not have to keep turning around to peek at the tell tail all the time
