hi all.Mr joe R. has in the past explained to me that the power pack or in my case the amplifier lacks voltage do to the starter stealing the power. it was explained to me that a 12 volt diod could be instaled to eliminate damage to the amp.my 3 main? are what lead do i go to on the amp i have 1 purple 1 gray 1 blue and 1 lead going to the timer base with a plug in conector.and on the starter silonoid witch one is witch.can i go with a connector from the corect silonoid post direct to the terminal block in witch the amp is powered.what gage wire is used to install this diod.after looking at all the wireing on this i found that the wire comin off the safety switch part#0379542 is just capped off next to the starter silonoid. i have been running the motor 2 seasons without what does this switch do and do i really need it? thank you tony.

With the key in the ON position, the purple wire terminal leading to the pulsepack should have 12 volts applied to it. That would be the terminal to have the diode wire attached to. Keep in mind that the current must flow thru that diode in the direction flowing to the pulsepack, NOT vice versa to the starter.

The safety switch grounds out in neutral which allows the starter solenoid to engage. When in gear, the switch is not grounded so the solenoid circuit is not grounded which prevents the starter from functioning. Having the safety switch grounded permanently allows the engine to be started in gear (not a good idea). However, if you are using a control box that incorporates a safety switch within the box, this switch replaces the one on the engine so the engine safety switch would not be needed.

Mr jo R.I guess that explains why i can start my motor when the control box is not in nutrule.but even in my manuel it states that the motor can be started when in gear. i thought it was odd to be able to start in gear. as long as it is never at wide open when trying to start i dont so much mind.but were would this wire go if it was to be hooked up.the silonoid?1 of the small post.now i remember running a grond wire from one of the silonoids post to the back of the motor and with out that ground wire hooked up it was unable to crank.i will have to look into this problem come spring. right now i got the motor in my basement torn down.
