6 hp outboard

Just bought an older jon boat with 6 hp Johnson, starts right up but will not staying running unless using choke. When choke turned off it will run normally for about 10 seconds then bog down. What could be the cause?

No model # posted but I assume it is from 65 to 79 model.------It is actually simple to " clean " the carburetor.----Usually no parts involved.---------Be sure to remove the small highspeed jet that is installed bebind the bowl drain screw.----It must be removed for proper cleaning and to verify idle passage is clean.-------No need to visit a shop for this job.-----Search on U-tube as someone likely has posted a tutorial.
