5hp Mariner/Yamaha 2 stroke

Lowdouble

I have a late 80s 5hp Mariner (Yamaha engine apparently) that starts and runs perfectly at half throttle to full speed. The problem is that when on tick over it starts to flood almost straight away and take 10minutes to restart. The reed valve on one side seems to be open about 1mm but apart from that all looks good. Any ideas on what could be a common fault or at worst, how expensive is a new carburetor. Thanks for looking.

The water impeller has gone on it today so I would like help in ageing the engine so I can order the right part. The serial numbers are: Mariner 5hp Japan 5M 6E3 142210 Thanks for all the previous help but I am afraid I need a little more :)
