Have been restoring/rebuilding an old Johnson no shift 3 hp outboard motor. Played hell getting the lower unit to separate, but finally accomplished the same with help from friends on this forum. Now I'm finding that the gearcase/prop shaft is refusing to slip out after removing the two screws meant to hold it into the lower unit. I've sprayed it with rust breaker and wacked it with a solid rubber hammer but it refuses to budge. Any ideas on how to dislodge this gearcase?
