"I'm just wondering what the wire attached to the nut holding the top ignition coil on a 30 hp johnson is for? Is that the ignition ground? It's on the bolt hole of the coil that has the metal strip, or is that wire something different?"

"If the wire goes back to the coil, then it's the ground. If it goes into a sheathed section with another wire (that goes to a plug from the powerpack) then it is the ground for the kill switch.

"the wire leads from there and out of the engine...used engine...just bought it....i know the ignition kill wire that comes out of the powerpack, and was wondering if that would be the wire i would connect to the other port of the kill switch---marty"
 
"yeah, i know the switch close

"yeah, i know the switch closes the circuit, to recap...the wire from the powerpack that i know is the ignition kill goes to the kill switch, is the wire that i origionally discribed, comming from the bolt hole of the ignition coil supposed to close the circuit by attaching to the other terminal of the kill switch?"
