"I have 5.7 gs in a 97 chris craft that is over heating. I pulled the tstat housing off and it was bone dry, no water in the housing or the manifold. I hooked up the water hose with the ear muffs and started the engine for about 30 seconds and no water flowed thru the lower unit. Is this the circulating water pump or the sea water pump?"

I would say the sea water pump

I would say the sea water pump is the prime suspect.

how long has it been since you

how long has it been since you changed the impeller? my boat over heats on ear muffs too. i have to disconnect the water intake hose from the outdrive and shove the hose in there to get my boat to run in the driveway.
