You may have a belt slipping d

You may have a belt slipping due to an tensioner bearing going bad or a water pump going bad.

Does it have a serpentine belt or v-velts? They need to be fairly tight. Anyway... belts are the first thing to come to mind.

"I haven't seen a pump make that noice but when they go bad, the pully can have some fore/aft play, they will leak and or the bearings will growel. Doubt you have such a problem.

Run it without the dog house and see what you can hear.

Guy - don't make me post the pic of that cat on the front of my old boat. You know the pic!"
