"I have a 97 Regal Commodore 242 with the Mercruser 5.7 LX engine... The engine has 230 hours on it the previous owner reall didnt use the boat and it sat for 2 yrs. It started running rough so I changed the plugs, cap, and rotor... When I rev it up the timing isnt advancing, I was told it would advance the timing at like 2200 rpms... a buddy told me that there are weights and springs under the rotor that allow it to advance but once we pulled the rotor off to check them there isnt anything like that there. any ideas what to check?? the boat is going on a two day trip monday so I need to get this fixed asap... my email is [email protected] or if you do cell txting my num is 607-731-2149"
