"I am about to purchase a 1997 Cruisers Yachts with twin 5.7 GDIP Douprop engines with approximately 200 hours. It runs great, but when we are backing into a slip there is a bump (jolt) when shifting from forward to reverse. There seems to be a slight delay before the bump and it is consistent in both directions. Once the engines are in gear it works great. Should I be concerned?

Should I consider using 10W/30 or 10W/40 oil instead of gear oil as I have read in other messages?

Does this indicate a cable adjustment is needed?

Thank you,"

The delay and bump are quite n

The delay and bump are quite normal on a duoprop. The recomended oil though is a 75-90 synthic
