Hey yall!
I have a 93' 5.7 alpha1 1.50 gear set and
when shifting to forward the motor is already
accelerating making for a fairly harsh shift.
reverse engages smoothly and long before acceleration. Also somtimes will jump in and out of gear before settling in. If I keep moving lever forward gear engages and stays. Is this a possible cable issue or a shift drum issue.

adjust the cables. don't continue running it as is or it will become a shift dog/ gearset issue.

Check the connections at the carb; may need lubed. If all is ok then shift cable may have come loose and slipped or needs replaced since the carb is getting fuel before the OD shifts into forward. They should move into gear first then accelleration. It could be the shifter assy. needs to be cleaned and lubed--use 2-4-C.

"Hey, Thanx Scott and Guy!
I adjusted the cables as per the manule specs.
and now it shifts perfectly! I did have to compensate a little for cable slack from the controller. I also cleaned and lubed the controller and it now operates very smoothly.
It was near 70 deg. today so I couldn't help but take Bohica out for a cruise. Nice being south!
Thanx Again!"

"good news. glad to hear you have a manual. you will find most maintainence, & repairs pretty simple if you refer to it, and deal with it before it becomes a major problem. enjoy the good weather while you got it. S."
