" PLEASE HELP NEED TO KNOW YEAR, MODEL # 55873R
SER# C577610 AND MY ENGINE IS OVERHEATING, I DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND TOP CYL.HAS 10PSI MIDDLE CLY. HAS 100PSI AND BOTTOM HAS 100PSI QUESTION:WOULD THAT BE THE CAUSE OF OVER HEATING

" Dave.... The engine is a 1968 55hp Evinrude. If the compression difference on the top cylinder is due to a blown head gasket, yes that would result in a overheating problem.

Regardless, remove the cylinder head to inspect the piston, cylinder walls, and the sealing surfaces of the head and block.
