54 johnson 10hp steering bracket froze

"just got a 1954 johnson 10 hp

"just got a 1954 johnson 10 hp but with or without motor on boat u cannont turn (steer) it. seems to be frozen all way to left turn position. any ideas on how to get this unstuck, seems to be fine otherwise until i can try it in water but if i go in river and get it running i can only do circles cause it frozen. wondering on how to unfreez it. no steering cables just tiller handle but cannot turn motor from transom mount, any help is great thanks"

"Using a hand held propane tor

"Using a hand held propane torch, apply heat to the upper and lower portion of the swivel bracket while applying turning pressure. This usually cause the salt (whatever) to release its hold on the swivel bracket's bushings."
