I am in the middle of replacing the rings on my Mercury 50hp and have purchased the correct ring set for my serial number.

The problem i am having is that the ring set was delivered without instructions, so i don't know which one is the topo ring and which one is the bottom. The two are easily differentiated in that one is shiny and one is black on the outside surface that makes contact with the cylinder (easily seen in the above link).
Anyone know which ring is the top? and which is the bottom?
