"I have a 50 hp Mercury that will overheat after about 15 minutes of running. (yeah it's hooked up to auga). Any suggestions will help! Thanks!
Also, do you know what year the engine is? (serial #= 5950285 / there is a number on the engine head = 1017-6636) It's a 4 cyl. Black outboard with blue background lines)"

"Nope, it is coming out from the prop. There is a little rubber fitting with a hole on the bottom of the cowl. I figured it was just drainage for rainwater in the casing."

"That hole with the rubber fitting on the lower cowl is where your cooling water discharge should pee from.If you are not getting a stream from there do not run the engine.It is one of two things: Your water pump/impeller is shot , or if you get lucky , the pee hole is just clogged.They often do clog up.Get a close look at the hole and see if there is any debris stuck in there.This is why you are overheating , as there is no water peeing from the engine."

"Not sure ,I've never done it.The part is cheap,around 21 bucks plus any gaskets you need.Should take a mechanic no more than an hour labor to do this."
