50HP ELPTO Reverse Problem

My 50 HP ELPTO makes a funny "kick" when put into reverse and finally gave out and reverse is no longer working. It will keep "kicking" until I go back into neutral. Sorry, that is the only way I know how to explain it. Anyone ever experience this?

That sounds like a bad clutch dog.#59 Might be your lower?? Need the serial#s when ever you ask or look up parts?

It may simply be out of adjustment. Have a competent marine mechanic drop the lower unit and see.
