500 50 hp mercury

I just picked up an old boat with a 500 50 hp kiekhaefer mercury outboard on it.I cannot find the model or serial numbers.It has thunderbolt ignition with the distributor,and it is a four cylinder.Could anyone tell me how old this unit is,or tell me where i can find that information?
 
The # will be on the swivel bracket just above the transom clamps,it might be on the starter bracket,failing that get the carb #'s and the colour of the wrapround may help narrow it down,at a guess being a 4cyl somewhere between '63-'78:Deasy
 
I have the same engine, I just bought an older boat and it came with that. Serial is 7061177. To some of you these may look like stupid questions, but: is it a two or a four stroke engine ? How old is this motor ? Does anyone have an exploded view of this engine ? I'm having problems with the water pump and I need to know how to fix it. Thanks. :)
 
If you put in C51045 in Google search it comes up with a replaced number. Have a look!!! And also search eBay quite a few come up on there some are compatible so have a good look at the configuration of yours then compare them.
Best I could do.
There is a company in USA eBay site but you end up paying through the nose for it and delivery is horrendous.

See this on eBay still marine you can contact them and ask the question does it fit Or will it fit.
