"if i start this boat from a cold eng.state it will run at idle for about 25 min. and then die out. i then can restart with throttle in neutral and eng. running at 1500 rpm or more. below this it will die right out.i have replaced the iac valve and the fuel filter.i have also added starbright ethanol problem product.i'm beginning to wonder about the fuel tank vent being plugged or partially plugged. any help with this would be much appreciated.thank you, waynejames"

"sorry no one has gotten back to you.. sounds like your on the right track though.. a way to check would be to hook up a portable tank if you have one.

Could be a vacuum leak somewhere or a MAP sensor (manifold air pressure) problem, could be a TPS or throttle position sensor problem too..

Do you have a check engine light? Should be a way to have it blink to tell you if there's a trouble code."

"pull your gas cap to check venting. this might be a hot fuel problem (boiling). i dont think this would be a MAP,vacumn leak or TPS issue. however the IAC is what controls your idle speed but i would not just replace it yet.with this type of problem a scan tool would be very helpful. (if) there is a way to pull codes somehow that would also be a good start."

"I would like to thank those that have offered help.I had already put in a new iac valve and tried it with the fuel cap off. I also did my best to rule out a fuel problem. At this point I have resorted to the pros. I will post the results of their findings after it is fixed.I do however suspect the coil at this time.I am afraid to replace it myself at this time due to it's 200.00 cost without proof of it causing the problem. thanks again, wayne"

"wayne,

sorry i missed you

"wayne,

sorry i missed your iac in your first post, i had a chevy G2500 (newer generation 6.0L) that would go into a high idle every once in awile.i replaced the IAC wich solved the problem for awile.then it started again i put another iac on it and it did not fix it this time, turned out that the wiring connecter was the culprit. i would strongly suggest that you replace that iac connector, weather it looks bad or not. a connector (pigtail) should be available from your local GM dealer. use heat shrink connectors only. (it may even come with them). hope this helps."

Even though the boat would stall in neutral the problem was the shift interupt sw. This boat only has 49 hrs.
