"I have a 1994 Maxum with a 5.0LX alpha one. I just had the carb rebuilt. The engine runs great, however when I am sitting idle and advance the throttle fast, I get a 1-2 sec hesitation. Any thoughts that could cause this?"

Too much slack in the throttle

Too much slack in the throttle cable at the carb.
Accelerator pump lever on wrong setting if adjustable or it is defective. Does the engine hesitate in neutral if you gun it? No? Then it is cable adjusment. Yes? Accellerator pump issue.

"Bill, you dont state your elevation or if you had a shop rebuild or a friend. at 4100 elevation we runb into a problem where you get the hesitation you talk of when the idle circut is too lean, if everything else checks out, float drop, ect, richen your idle circut by 1/4 turn each side and then test, it takes some fine tuning. you also didnt say wither this was the reason for the rebuild."

Welcome; it's better if you start a new thread to get the most viewers and responses.

The trim position sender is stuck in the up position. It's located on the starboard side of the OD. Looks like a hockey puck with a few wires coming out of it. Take a small knife and scratch a straight line across one side and the OD for a reference. Loosen the two screws on the puck and turn the puck in either direction to find out if the gauge pointer will move. If it moves, adjust it to the position of the OD and test the up/down movement of the OD and gauge. If it won't move, the puck can be taken apart and cleaned with brakecleaner and relubed w/merc. 2-4-C lube. Use a pencil eraser to clean the flat part of the contact surface. You can also clean it w/1200 grit wet sanding paper. The puck should have a zerk fitting for lube--pump fresh lube thru it befor reassembly."
