50 hp thunderbolt with 2 serial numbers

Can you guys help me determine

Can you guys help me determine what yaer model I have? It's an old merc 500 2 cycle. One serial number is on the transom area 2404395. The other number is located on the crank case plate 2404495. I believe it is a 68 but not sure. Are these 2 numbers for the same year? Thanks
