50 hp Evinrude sitting since 93

I was given a 50 hp evinrude

I was given a 50 hp evinrude model 50173s
serial e04527 along with a boat. I believe it has been sitting since 1993. Where do I go to find out the year of the motor. It seems to have been stored properly. What steps do I take to awaken this motor back up without causing problems. Does this motor have any problematic history I should be aware of?

"The engine is a 1971 50hp model. Check the compression and spark. Sitting for that length of time, the carburetors will be clogged/fouled/gummed.... remove, clean, and rebuild them.
