"I attempted to remove the lower unit to replace the water pump. I removed a 13 mm and a 10 mm bolt. The unit would come down an inch or so and stop. Obviously something is holding it in place. If you have step by step instructions for replacing the water pump I would appreciate having them.

The gear shift rod needs to un

The gear shift rod needs to unhook. There should be an access panel with 2 bolts right behind the carry handle. Underneath the plastic lower cowl There is a small cube clamped to the shift rod farther down that comes off that moves the reverse look hook. Take that off.
