5.8 EFI w/SX outdrive

Greetins !!

First question, and hopefully its not been asked a thousand time already. ( I did use the search feature and came up with nothing)

Looking at my next boat, last one was 15 years ago, and it had the now infamous 470 Merc, so Im really doing my home work this time.


Guy has a really clean 1996 Chris Craft Concept 23 footer. 341 hours. Sea trial went great. Price seems alitte high at $8900, but its the "boating season" and used boats are really selling around here right now.

My concern................... I cant find alot of info on the 5.8 EFI engine. I know OMC/ Volvo used them for just a short time. Ive heard the SX outdrive is solid.

Any feed back from owners of this combo would be great!

On thing I did find interesting in my research. Almost all the high performance inboard ski boats (Mastercraft, Correct Craft) use the 5.8

Select sterndrive, 8 cylinder, gasoline, production year 1990-1999, then take your pick and download the available literature (operator's manual, brochures, etc).

The SX is a good drive. Hopefully, some owners of the package you are talking about will read the post and give you some feedback.

i work on pentas and i gots nothing bad to say about the sx or duo for that matter, if its a duo just take care of those props!
