5.7l 2002 Merc Cruiser in a 2002 Tahoe 220 deck boat.

started several times with no problem. last time i tried it started to crank the starter and after 1/2 sec it quit. when i turn the key i hear a single click in the engine area. checked the batteries and 90% charge. all power accessories work and even put it on charger. Throttle is in neutral. battery switch is turned to 2 batteries. checked all wires that i can think of to see if they were loose, nothing showed up.

Thought it was the starter so checked all the wires and they were tight. check the fuses and all good. installed a new starter and still the same. i am new to marine engines but know my way around automobile engines.

What should i be checking now.

there the same as car engines , they need a good positive connection AND A GOOD CLEAN NEGATIVE CONNECTION
Locate the slave solenoid and jump the 2 large posts, this should spin the starter, if not you have a bad cable connection
