I have a 97 monterey with a mercruiser 5.7 and an alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive. I have had all sorts of trouble with the powersteering on this boat and have recently found a tag on the engine that says it is a left hand rotation engine. The pump that is on the boat now I know for a fact is a right rotation engine. Does anyone have any knowledge of this issue if so any and all help will be appreciated.

dont think it matters for the PS pump.engine rotation is determined by looking at the flywheel . turns left, standard engine, turns right, counter-rotation engine.

Ayuh,.... What sorta "Troubles",..??

Well its nocking the pumps out and i can not figure out why this makes no sense to me. i have put 2 pumps on this boat and mutiple lines it will develope a leak. this past time it blew the seal from around the pump like it had a blocked line. any ideas i can use is greatly appreciated

Ayuh,.... If this is a single engine set-up, it's a Standard, Left-handed motor.....

The system only has the Pump, the Hi-pressure line to the actuator, 'n the return, low-pressure line to the cooler, 'n on to the pump....

I guess ya oughta be lookin' at the Actuator....
In the manual, you'll see it's important, as to which way the wrench flats on the actuator are to be pointed....
It aligns the internal valving....
