5.0 to 5.7 EFI question

I have a 2006 mercruiser 5.0 that is locked up. My intention is to buy a 5.7 longblock and reuse most of the rest of the components as they are interchangeable. My primary concern is the programming of the fuel injections. Obviously it will be a different tune but just not sure exactly what tune or spec it would be for. Any help would be much appreciated.

Find a 555 controller for the 5.7

Make sure you get the correct one for Bravo or Alpha.

Chris, thanks for the reply. When you were speaking of the alpha or bravo did you mean the long block or the efi? If I understand correctly the block and heads are pretty much Chevrolet Vortec items built for marine use. Is there a significant difference in the block and heads? As for the EFI I wanted to use the existing unit that's on the boat now. It's a 2006 Maxum. Would the control unit be different other than programming between the 5.0 and 5.7? Forgive me if any of these questions are dumb as I'm a newbie to boat stuff. Thanks for the help.

If you upgrade to a 5.7 ECU, you will need to find the correct one for your boat, Is it an Alpha or is it a Bravo? There is a difference. Alpha ECU has shift interrupt capabilities the Bravo ECU does not.
